Why Your Landing Page Gets Clicks But No Calls
You are spending money on Google Ads or Meta Ads. The clicks are coming in. Your dashboard shows decent traffic. But the phone does not ring. The enquiry form sits empty. This is one of the most common and painful situations I see when I sit down with Indian business owners to review their digital presence. The ad is not the problem. The landing page is.
A landing page has one job: take a warm visitor and turn them into an enquiry. That is it. But most landing pages I audit are doing at least four or five things wrong at the same time. And the worst part is, the business owner cannot see it because they are too close to their own business. They know what they mean. The visitor does not.
The first mistake is a headline that talks about the company instead of the buyer's problem. I see this constantly. The page opens with something like 'Welcome to XYZ Enterprises — Quality Manufacturer Since 2005.' The visitor arrived because they searched for a specific solution. Your company history is not that solution. Your headline must answer the question every visitor is silently asking: 'Is this for me? Can this person solve my problem?' If the first five words don't say yes, they leave.
The second mistake is too many options on one page. A landing page is not your full website. It should not have six service tabs, a blog section, an about us paragraph and three different contact methods competing for attention. Every extra option you give a visitor reduces the chance they take the one action you actually want. I have seen manufacturers list fifteen product categories on a single landing page and wonder why nobody enquires. Pick one offer. Build one page around it. Guide the visitor to one action only.
The third mistake — and this one is brutal — is a contact form that asks too much. Name, company name, designation, city, phone, email, message, budget range, timeline. I have seen forms with eleven fields on a landing page targeting cold traffic. Nobody fills that out. Especially not on a mobile screen, which is where most Indian buyers are browsing. Ask for name, phone number and one short question. That is enough to start a conversation. You can collect the rest when you call them back.
Trust signals are missing on most Indian business landing pages. A buyer who arrives from an ad knows nothing about you. They have no prior relationship. They are evaluating whether you are real and whether you are credible — all within thirty seconds. Client logos, a short testimonial with a real name and city, a photo of your team or factory, a registration number or certification badge — these small things do enormous work. If your page looks like it could belong to anyone, buyers will not take the risk. If you want help building a page that converts, a one-to-one consultation can help you identify exactly what is missing.
Mobile experience is where most landing pages quietly die. Your designer built it on a laptop. It looked beautiful. But sixty to seventy percent of your visitors are on phones with average internet speeds. Images that are too large slow the page down. Buttons that are too small or placed too low on the screen never get tapped. Text that requires zooming in gets skipped. Load speed alone can kill your conversion rate. A page that takes more than four seconds to load on mobile loses most of its visitors before they even see your offer.
The call to action itself is often weak or vague. 'Submit', 'Send' or 'Click Here' tell the visitor nothing about what happens next. Compare that to 'Get a Free Quote in 24 Hours' or 'Call Now to Check Availability'. The second kind of CTA gives the visitor a reason and sets an expectation. It reduces the fear of the unknown. Most people hesitate before contacting a business they have never dealt with. Your CTA should lower that hesitation, not add to it. I cover this in detail during my business growth workshops for founders who are running ads but not seeing results.
If you have tried fixing your ads, changing your targeting and tweaking your budget but the enquiries are still not coming — stop adjusting the ad. Spend one hour reviewing your landing page against everything in this article. Check the headline, reduce the form fields, remove the clutter, add one genuine testimonial and test it on your own phone on a 4G connection. Most of the time, the fix is right there on the page — not in the ad account. If you want a second pair of eyes on it, you can always contact me directly and we can look at it together.
